The Winners Passion Creation carries on THEO FABERGÉ’s imagination of design, featuring a mechanical surprise within.
The sapphire blue guilloché enamel of the Winners outer shell continues Theo’s grandfather Carl Fabergé's tradition of this 18th century French technique, which is being kept alive by just a few craftsmen around the world.
The finial of the shell was personally designed by Theo Fabergé for his very first Creation for the collection in 1985. The finial is surmounted with a cabochon ruby. Beneath the finial is a starburst design, which is seen on many of Theo’s Creations.
To the lower half of the egg is a suspended ace of clubs. By rotating the egg, there are also the aces of hearts, spades and diamonds. The classic suits of a pack of cards. The spade and club are set with sparkling black diamonds. The heart and diamond are set with faceted rubies.
The base, ornamentally turned on Theo Fabergé’s Holtzapffel lathe dating from 1860, is used to cut 38 cuts. This matches with numbers 1 – 36 plus “0” and “00” for playing on a roulette wheel. Two of the cuts are filled with green enamel to signify the “0” and “00”. The base also displays Theo Fabergé’s personal hallmark as well as the Serial Number of the Creation.
