The flag-raising at Iwo Jima is recreated in relief on the front of the shell and three service insignia medallions are attached to the shell bottom. Generals Eisenhower and MacArthur, the two Allied Commanders of the European and Asian theaters respectively, are engraved on the shell reverse.
In remembrance of D-Day,
engraved parachutists also appear on the shell.
