The sterling silver framed "en cage" box, inset with hand painted porcelain panels, encapsulates the story of opportunity and life. The lizard becomes an opportunist taking an egg from the unattended thrush's nest, while she is feeding from a half peach. Meanwhile the mouse hoards fruit from the table setting.

The box is lined with burgundy velvet and adorned with a ribbon finger plate of vermeil, set with a faceted ruby.
