Shtandart Egg

Oak trees specially planted by Peter the Great as the foundation of the Russian fleet are now being used to build an exact replica of his first vessel, The Shtandart.

This historic occasion inspired Theo Fabergé to design his Shtandart Egg, a creation that captures the magnificence of this ship commemorating the 300th anniversary of Peter the Great's visit to England. Hand turned from Russian oak, the exterior of the Egg is decorated with fine vermeil rope and ship's wheel and anchor.

Shtandart Egg by Theo Faberge - Open View On opening the Egg, the surprise is revealed as the essential navigational apparatus, a compass, to guide the owner through the storms of life.
