Poppy Egg by Theo Faberge

Poppy Egg header

The Egg is made using materials and techniques made famous by the Fabergé family. The sterling silver shell is turned and then guilloche enameled in deep cherry red – one of the most difficult enamel colours to achieve. Theo has been designing beautiful creations for six decades and, in honour of that achievement, has used six brilliant white diamonds in the sterling and 24 karat – gold poppy seed pods which decorate the shell. The base turned on Theo Fabergé’s holzapffel lathe, repeats the theme with stylized interlocking poppies.

The surprise within is a flower pot with a poppy in bud and flower. The enameled poppy is set with a full cut black diamond in the stamen. The flower pot, engine turned, lifts out as a separate creation and bears the full hallmark. Each Egg is numbered and bears the Fabergé family signature. Issue date 2007.
