Created in honor of the Third Millennium, this vibrant egg is handcrafted in porcelain, sterling silver, 24 karat gold and gemstones. The work echoes its exotic lineage from the Russian Baroque style, with its metalwork encrusted with jewels.
A hand-painted cerulean blue porcelain Egg is mounted on a vermeil pedestal originally turned on Theo Fabergé's Holtzapffel lathe, and set with some 250 precious stones. Exquisite raised motifs illustrate the passing of time and the sunrise, and a fountain of light crowns the finial.
On opening, the surprise: a glittering fountain of aquamarines rises from the midst of sculpted heraldic dolphins, set in a pond of mouth-blown, hand-cut glass. Look beneath the pond, to find Theo Fabergé's last surprise and wish for the new Millennium!
