FIREBIRD SURPRISE DETAILS
On opening the FIREBIRD PASSION, the Fabergé tradition of bejewelled fantasy is continued as the Firebird itself is revealed. This magnificent objet d´art can be displayed freestanding of the Egg or, in the magical style of the Imperial Egg surprises, can be transformed into wearable jewelry.
The Firebird is crafted with diamonds, blue sapphires, purple sapphires, pink sapphires and rubies, all set in white or yellow 18 karat gold. Its sparkling wings contain 150 brilliant diamonds alone, mounted in white 18 karat gold. The head and neck too are set with diamonds, while a pear-shaped ruby represents its eye and pink sapphires replicate the bird´s feathery crest.
The Firebird´s body is comprised of faceted, fancy-cut blue sapphires of varying sizes, set in 18 karat yellow gold. The tail bears blue, purple and pink sapphires, and twelve rubies accented by additional brilliant diamonds. Every gem has been specially cut and hand-picked for the Firebird.
The Firebird can be utilized five different ways, a testament to Theo Fabergé´s ingenuity. As well as being kept within the egg as the surprise of the FIREBIRD PASSION, the Firebird may be exhibited as a display separately from the Egg. It may also be worn in its entirety as a brooch. Cleverly, the piece is convertible and becomes a smaller brooch with the tail detached. Further, the colorful Firebird tail may be worn alone as a necklace pendant.
